Game of Thrones has featured numerous guest actors, but perhaps none have been as brief as Rob McElhenney and Martin Starr in the season eight premiere.
Yes, you read that right. The co-creator of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and star of Silicon Valley both appear in the episode “Winterfell”.
The moment comes when Theon rescues Yara, with the Greyjoy’s soldiers shooting numerous members of the Golden Army, two of whom are played by McElhenney and Starr.
McElhenney confirmed the appearance on Instagram, setting his location to “Seven Kingdoms of Westeros” and writing: “Don’t blink.”
The creators of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Game of Thrones have a history of working together, with Thrones showrunners DB Weiss and David Benioff having previously cameoed as lifeguards on It's Always Sunny.
The reunion-heavy first episode featured a hilarious reference to last season’s controversial Ed Sheeran cameo as well as a terrifying death at the hands of the Night King.
The final season of Game of Thrones continues every Sunday. You can watch the trailer for season two here.
Game of Thrones is available now on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK.
