David Schwimmer discusses Friends reunion rumours on The One Show

The Friends reunion, which sent the internet into overdrive in February, has been indefinitely postponed due to coronavirus.

All six Friends cast members were due to reunite on camera for the first time since 2004. The unscripted special would have seen the cast reminiscing about their time working on the series.

With coronavirus pausing production across the entertainment industry, the reunion will no longer go ahead as planned.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Friends cast were due to film the special over two days beginning next week (23 March). The original Central Perk set, located on a studio lot in Burbank, California, was going to play host to the reunion.

The industry paper suggests that the reunion will still go ahead, but won’t film until May at the earliest.

Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer have all been paid eye-watering sums of money for the special.

It has been reported the cast will each earn between $2.5m to $3m for their participation. The ensemble famously earned $1m each per episode for the show’s final season in 2003 and 2004.

Cox previously said that she was “so excited” for the reunion to take place, adding: “The exciting thing is that we’re all going to get together for the first time, in a room, and actually talk about the show.”

Coronavirus continues to delay and cancel production on the majority of film and television.
