Macaulay Culkin will make an unexpected acting comeback in the forthcoming 10th season of American Horror Story.

It is currently unknown who the former child star will play in the series.

Culkin’s involvement in the show was confirmed in an Instagram video posted by series co-creator Ryan Murphy.

Murphy also confirmed a number of other stars who will return, including Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Leslie Grossman, Adina Porter, Kathy Bates, Finn Wittrock, Lily Rabe and Angelica Ross.

Paulson, a fan favourite, didn’t appear in 2019’s ninth season of the series – marking the first season of the cult show to not feature the actor.

Murphy’s video depicts the waves of a beach, while Orville Peck’s track “Dead of Night” plays over the top of it.

Culkin recently revealed that he was actively looking for acting work again, while confessing that he had “bombed” his audition for Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

“It was a disaster. I wouldn’t have hired me,” he told Esquire.

In the same interview, he also spoke about being good friends with Michael Jackson as a child.
