THE HOTTEST ticket in town, to the point of spontaneous combustion, is Ewan McGregor's London stage debut, tonight, at the Hampstead Theatre in David Halliwell's comedy Little Malcolm and his Struggle Against the Eunuchs, directed by his uncle, Denis Lawson. Instead of trying to glean his performance by glueing your ear to the pavement outside, why not have a gossip-filled evening down the pub, courtesy of The Weir (below). There are no movie gods, just an extraordinarily gifted cast who'll have you hanging on every word of Conor McPherson's disquieting yarns.

Michael Duke's revival of Frank McGuinness's award-winning portrait of the 36th Ulster Division's experiences in the First World War, Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme, powerfully shows ingrained prejudice being overcome by battle-worn camaraderie. In a strong cast, Richard Dormer excels as Pyper, the sole survivor.
