The latest proof of the success of TV musical nostalgia (already recognised by the popularity of The Rock 'n' Roll Years and Sounds of the Sixties / Seventies) has come with the ratings that recent repeats of Top of the Pops have attained on UK Gold. Despite their late scheduling (11pm), the five weekly showings of 1970s shows have been the five most-watched programmes on UK Gold in every week since the channel began showing them earlier this month. Since UK Gold started, The Bill and Casualty have topped the channel's ratings with audiences around 200,000. Top of the Pops gets nearer 300,000, bettered only by the first two programmes ever shown on UK Gold on 1 November 1992.
