Amazon Prime Video has made a selection of its family friendly content free to stream after schools were closed to help combat the coronavirus outbreak.

Among the shows on offer is children’s favourite Peppa Pig, plus Fireman Sam and In the Night Garden.

Families do not need a Prime membership to access the free content – they just need to create an Amazon account, which can be set up for free online. You can find the available free titles here.

The news follows the announcement that Audible has made hundreds of audiobooks free to stream, including dozens of children’s titles.

Some of the books are narrated by stars including Westworld's Thandie Newton, and Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens.

There is a wide variety of education, entertainment and general-interest titles available, from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Return of Sherlock Holmes.

If you're looking for more ways to entertain yourself during self-isolation, check out the most underrated TV shows on streaming services here, the most comforting films here, and all the Disney films coming to Disney+ here.
