SIX YEARS after her father died, Mary Kiehn was sent a copy of a journal he had kept while he was a Japanese prisoner of war, which had been discovered by an American serviceman in 1945 and hoarded until the 1980s. "It was like a voice coming back from the dead," she reveals in My Dad's Diary (11am R4) but a voice she hardly recognised - that of a gentle young man whose faith was being tested to the limit.
