Album review: Franz Ferdinand, Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action (Domino)

Right Thoughts... restores some of the spirit dissipated by 2009's Tonight. But in a year already host to some brilliant albums, it seems tired and dated: the strutting "Love Illumination" recalls Electric Six; and the best track here, "Evil Eye", offers a thinly-disguised retread of INXS's "Need You Tonight".

The album pales as it proceeds, the only fresh element being the West Coast harmonies of "Fresh Strawberries", a celebration of youth featuring the cyclical-cynical observation, "I believe there's nothing to believe".

Download: Evil Eye; Fresh Strawberries; Love Illumination
