Album: Labrinth, Electronic Earth (Syco)
Received wisdom suggests this urban-ish popster is the first "credible" signing to Cowell's Syco label, in so much as he's emerged organically via initial success as a writer/producer.
Hmm...Tuneful enough, his debut is an MOR bricolage of prevailing musical styles (grime-pop, sob-rock, retro-soul), best summed up by a track fusing dubstep and "Big Yellow Taxi". "I'm far from JLS/ Ain't got the X Factor," he quips; the evidence, for good or bad, suggests otherwise.
