Pearl Jam celebrates 20th anniversary of 'Ten'

On May 16, American rock band Pearl Jam confirmed the details for its own US festival, as well as a film, North American tour, and book in celebration of the 20th anniversary of its debut album, Ten.

Along with a string of US shows, the festival will be held September 3 and 4 at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, Wisconsin, near Milwaukee. Other bands set to play are The Strokes, Mudhoney, and Queens of the Stone Age, among others. Festival tickets go on sale next Monday (May 23) for members of Pearl Jam's Ten Club fan organization (you can join via the band's website), and June 4 for the general public.

Following the festival, Pearl Jam will play ten shows in Canada, beginning September 7 in Montreal, with scheduled stops in Vancouver and Toronto.

The band is also releasing a documentary dubbed Pearl Jam Twenty, directed by band friend Cameron Crowe, who wrote and directed the American films Singles and Almost Famous. Together, they have created over 1,200 hours of vintage footage of the band, along with new interviews and a soundtrack. The film is set to premiere in the US on October 21 on PBS, but a DVD will likely follow.

A supplementary book, Pearl Jam Twenty, will be released this fall in the US, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder is also releasing a second solo album, Ukulele Songs, on May 31 along with a live solo DVD titled Water on the Road. Featuring tracks he wrote and played live but never released, the new album includes a ukulele version of Pearl Jam's "Can't Keep." Guest vocalists include Everly Brothers' Glen Hansard and Cat Power. The concert DVD features Vedder playing ukulele tunes, Pearl Jam tracks, and songs from his first solo album and film soundtrack for Into the Wild at a concert in Washington DC.

Pearl Jam has sold more than 30 million records in the US and some 60 million worldwide.
