Radiohead have performed their breakthrough hit “Creep” for the first time in seven years.

The band played the song, last played in 2009, to a thrilled crowd of 6,000 fans at Le Zenith arena in Paris on Sunday despite frontman Thom Yorke previously referring to it as “Crap”.

“This is for the funny guy shouting for ‘Creep’ at the back, if only to shock you,” he said before launching into the haunting, rarely-performed track.

Fans with tickets to see Radiohead over the coming weeks should not expect to hear “Creep” again, as the group’s set lists have varied across recent gigs. The band are currently touring in support of their ninth album A Moon Shaped Pool, reaching London on 26 May for three nights at the Camden Roundhouse, before heading to New York to play Madison Square Gardens on 26 and 27 July.

Radiohead also played “No Surprises” for the first time since 2009 in Paris, along with “True Love Waits” for the first time since 2011.
