Super Bowl halftime show 2016: Everyone who's performing, from Beyonce to Coldplay

Even if you don't like American football, the Super Bowl is a pretty big deal, with high-profile commercials and a star-studded halftime show.

This year's headliners are Beyoncé, Bruno Mars and Coldplay, while Lady Gaga will be performing the 'Star-Spangled Banner'.

Just ahead of her halftime performance, Beyoncé released surprise new single 'Formation'. The singer was recently spotted rehearsing the song for the Super Bowl, and also featured in the heavily criticised music video for Colplay's 'Hymn for the Weekend'.

This isn't her Super Bowl debut, having performed in the New Orleans halftime show in 2013 where she performed 'Single Ladies' and 'Crazy in Love' before briefly bringing back Destiny's Child.

Bruno Mars, who confirmed his appearance on Instagram the day before the event, is also a show veteran, having partnered with the Red Hot Chili Peppers for the 2014 event in New Jersey.

Unlike the others, this will mark Coldplay's first time playing to the 100 million plus audience, and it's a safe bet their performance will be filled with singles off of their most recent album A Head Full of Dreams.

The setlist is just one source of intrigue though, with the show's typically elaborate staging and complex choreography another reason to tune in. Hopefully, there will be another moment as great as left shark.

In a recent press event, Coldplay singer Chris Martin said the band will try to avoid any "shark-based trauma", having been warned by his child Apple about potentially becoming a meme.
