On February 24, Canadian rock band Broken Social Scene is the most blogged act of the moment, according to The Hype Machine. California indie pop band The Morning Benders and American duo White Hinterland are in second and third positions. Other talked-about artists of the day include Baltimore dream pop duo Beach House and English pop singer/songwriter Tracey Thorn.

Beach House has received plenty of buzz since the start of 2010, beginning with the late January release of the studio album Teen Dream. The two - Alex Scally and Victoria Legrand - are back in the blogs this week as they set out to release a follow-up EP in support of Record Store Day on April 17. The four-song Zebra EP will include a UK radio edit of Teen Dream's title track, a new mix of "10 Mile Stereo," and two new tracks, of which one, "The Arrangement," is being passed around the blogosphere.

Tracey Thorn, best known as half of the duo Everything But the Girl, has emerged in the music blogs leading up to the May 17 release of her album Love and its Opposite, Thorn's second solo endeavor since Everything But the Girl (Thorn and her husband, Ben Watt) went on hiatus in 2002. The upcoming album's opening track, "Oh, The Divorces!," is now available for free download. Umstrum Music (umstrum.com) says the new album ranges "from subdued electronica to downright glittering disco."
