Emo quartet American Football have announced the release date of their new album and released the first track.

The self-titled record – which is set for release on 22 March 2019 – features guest vocals from Paramore singer Hayley Williams and will be their second since the 2016 comeback album American Football (LP2).

“Silhouettes” has been released online and can be listened to below.

The group took an extended hiatus follow their 2000 tour, announcing their return in 2014. During their period away, American Football became increasingly revered and the band’s 1999 debut self-titled album is still viewed as a cult classic.

American Football (LP3) will feature vocals from Williams, along with Rachel Goswell – singer of shoegaze heroes Slowdive – and indie rock band Land of Talk’s singer Elizabeth Powell. It will be Williams’s first recorded output since Paramore’s hugely successful 2017 record After Laughter.

The band’s comeback shows in 2014 were seen by thousands, with their first ever British shows, two nights at the Electric Ballroom in London, selling out. Their appearance at Reading And Leeds also drew sizeable crowds.
