Jade Bird, one of the most startlingly beautiful voices to emerge from this year so far, has shared the second live video for her new EP Something American.

The British artist recorded her debut EP, a refreshing take on classic Americana, in Rhinebeck, NY, which features Matt Johnson [Jeff Buckley, St Vincent] on drums and Will Rees [Mystery Jets] on guitar.

I saw her support Brent Cobb at the Slaughtered Lamb in London back in January, where she blew everyone away thanks to her wonderful voice and charming stage presence.

Watch the premiere of the video for 'What Am I Here For' below:

Q&A with Jade Bird

What are you listening to at the moment?

I'm listening to quite a few individual tracks, a couple I've had on repeat have been; Donnie Hathaway - Jealous Guy, Buddy Miles - Them Changes, Middle Brother - Million Dollar Bill. But also lots of Elliot Smith, Big Thief, Arcade Fire.. and something more recent I've been loving is Blaenavon's new record. I'm excited for Flyte's new album too - some great British bands coming up.

What are your plans for the rest of the year?

I'm actually heading out on tour in America with Son Little in November, but before that I have my headline show at Omeara in London on October 17th and a few European festivals before the Summer is gone forever!

What was the first gig you ever played and what’s been the best so far?

Oooh. First gig I think I was about 14 and I played a tiny (literally wardrobe sized) pub in South Wales. That was definitely my first 'official' gig ha! My favourite... I think it would have to be a couple of weeks ago playing The Bluebird in Nashville. You can just feel the history there, it really is special. Plus it was me in a round with 3 guys (including Brent Cobb who is a good friend of mine), I had to get my elbows out ;')

Jade Bird's debut EP Something American is out now. She plays Omeara in London on 17 October - tickets are available here.
