Letter: The GM `monster'
Sir: Why is there so little discussion of the reasons for the Government's enthusiasm for GM food? A degree of caution, if not scepticism, would be both intelligent and politically expedient, but our government is willing not only to ignore the clear views of its alleged employers (us) but spends considerable energy in changing our minds about GM crops. Why?
Presumably because it is under irresistible pressure from the US to accept exports of GM food and its related chemicals, and is thus prepared to put the interests of US multinationals ahead of its own electorate. As one who normally votes Labour, I shall be voting Green next Thursday.
