Letter: Refugees' plight
Refugees' plight
Sir: Your correspondent (letter, 2 November) asks how pensioners can become asylum-seekers in Britain, and so get a better financial deal.
I am a pensioner living in the home in which we brought up our children. Everyone on my road speaks the same language, my neighbours are of 10 and 20 years' standing. Unlike many who become refugees, I do not fear a knock at the door. No one has ever told me to pack up our belongings and start walking.
Old age pension payments and the plight of refugees are two very different issues.
