Letter: Pinochet's law
Sir: I note that General Pinochet's legal team have once again been busy ensuring that only those law lords who have not manifested an unacceptable enthusiasm for human rights will be involved in the decision as to whether the general should face extradition. I hope that those who feel that high public office should not offer carte blanche immunity from prosecution will have the same rights. They will no doubt wish to object to any law lord with personal or family connections with the armed services, anyone who supports the Conservative Party or for that matter anyone who has taken tea with Lady Thatcher. At this rate we may soon run out of law lords.
