Letter: In Brief
Sir: Some years ago I was riding on a No 88 bus in the Oxford Street rush hour and gave up my seat to a woman of a certain age. The conductress came down the stairs and correctly threw me off the bus on the basis that there were more than five people standing. I appealed in vain to the beneficiary of my upbringing and walked home in the rain.
