Sir: Juliet Bullimore (letter, 15 December) says: "Do not most people realise that the accumulation of more `stuff' [in the form of Christmas presents] does not improve the quality of life?" Would she say this to a homeless or very deprived person? Or are homeless and very deprived people below the threshold of ownership of "stuff" necessary to realise that "stuff" is overrated. Would she care to suggest a suitable amount of "stuff" it is acceptable to accumulate?
