Sir: Donald Foreman's distinction between the Civil List and the Duchy of Cornwall is of no consequence (letter, 7 May). The entire Royal Family is wholly funded by the taxpayer, since in the absence of a monarchy all revenue from both Duchy and Crown Estates would accrue to the Treasury.
