Letter: GM common sense
Sir: Certainly, genetic modification, of the right foods, in the right way, may be of crucial benefit to mankind - eventually. The present thrust of development is entirely founded on the concept of huge, monocultural prairies of the few food crops that can be grown in North America and Western Europe. Not only is this folly, committed in pursuit of quick profit, but it is of no conceivable benefit to the mass of the world's population.
