Watch The Fault In Our Stars new trailer
Emotional trailer has wracked up 3m YouTube views in less than 48 hours
The trailer for the anticipated adaptation of young adult novel The Fault In Our Stars has been released (scroll to see the video).
The film, which is based on the popular novel by John Green, follows 16-year-old cancer patient Hazel (Shailene Woodley) who meets and falls in love with a boy called Augustus (Ansel Elgort) at her cancer support group.
The two and a half minute trailer begins with the illusion that everything is well in Hazel Grace Lancaster’s life, until she says: “There’s nothing in life that can’t be fixed with a Peter Gabriel song. I like that version as much as the next girl does. It’s just not the truth.”
Hazel then appears with tubes in her nose wheeling an oxygen canister on her way to school to help with the cancer that has developed in her lungs.
We then see her at her support group, where she meets 17-year-old Augustus Waters, and the two quickly become close, although Hazel is more skeptical about their relationship.
She tells Augustus: “I’m a grenade, and I’m going to obliterate everything in my wake. And I don’t want to hurt you.”
The story then takes an emotional turn with slow motion shots of Hazel’s parents running to rescue her in hospital.
The trailer has proven hugely popular with fans of the book online, attracting 3 million views in less than 48 hours.
The Fault In Our Stars is due for release in the UK on 20 June.
