Did this Simpsons scene predict Tom Hanks would need to self-quarantine?

Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have shared an update from quarantine after testing positive for coronavirus.

In a post on Instagram, Hanks wrote: “Hello folks. @ritawilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us.

Hanks, 63, said he and Wilson are taking it “one day at a time”.

The beloved Hollywood star confirmed this week that he and Wilson had both tested positive for the illness.

“We have COVID-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else,” he explained in the update.

“There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness. We are taking it one-day-at-a-time.

“There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no?”

The post showed the couple smiling, with Hanks putting his arm around Wilson.

Tom Hanks’ rapper son Chet Haze also recently assured fans that his parents are “not trippin’” and “not worried” about their coronavirus diagnosis.

Hanks and his wife, the actor and musician Rita Wilson, were diagnosed with COVID-19 while working in Australia.

On his Instagram, Haze, otherwise known as Chester Hanks, recorded himself addressing fans concerned about the pair’s well-being.

“It’s true, my parents got coronavirus,” Haze said. “Crazy.”

He continued, “They’re both down in Australia right now, cos my dad was shooting a movie down there. I just got off the phone with them [and] they both are fine.”
