A first look at the anticipated movie Straight Outta Compton has been released online.

Although not an official trailer, the clip previewed by Ice Cube at a concert in Syndey gives a good taster of what fans can expect from the film.

Starring Ice Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson Jr, Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell, the film follows the story of NWA members Ice Cube, Dr Dre and Eazy-E from growing up on the streets of Compton to their platinum-selling music career.

In one scene showed in the teaser, NWA’s manager played by Paul Giamatti is seen asking Eazy-E “what does NWA stand for? No Whites Allowed?” to which Eazy-E replies: “No, Niggaz Wit Attitudes”.

The film is due to be released on 14th August 2015, pitting it against a strong summer for blockbusters including Fast and Furious 7 and Jurassic World.

NWA are credited with redefining gangsta rap and west coast hip hop in the Eighties, with some critics calling them the most important group in the history of rap music.

Active from 1986 to 1991, the rap group were considered controversial due to their explicit lyrics that appeared to disrespect women and glorify drugs and crime.

The film is named after their debut album, which was released in 1988.
