The first image of Johnny Flynn in character as a young David Bowie in the forthcoming biopic Stardust has been revealed.

Musician and actor Flynn stars as the iconic “Space Oddity” singer at the age of 24, when he embarked on his first road trip to America in 1971 with his struggling publicist Ron Oberman, played by Marc Maron (Glow).

Stardust offers a glimpse behind the curtain of the moments that inspired the creation of Bowie’s first and most memorable alter ego Ziggy Stardust,” reads the film’s official synopsis, “capturing the turning point that cemented his career as one of the world’s greatest cultural icons.”

Emmy award-winning British filmmaker Gabriel Range (I Am Slave) directs the project written by Christopher Bell (The Last Czars).

An established folk singer, Flynn is also known for his roles in Netflix's Lovesick and the 2017 thriller Beast. Jena Malone, who appeared in Tom Ford's 2016 neo-noir Nocturnal Animals, will play Bowie’s wife Angie.
