Last year was a pretty special one for Back to the Future fans.

We finally hit 2015, marking both the 30th anniversary of the trilogy's first installment and the projected 'future' date which Part II travels to - October 21, 2015. Yet, that doesn't mean 2016 is totally bereft of treats for those who love the classic trilogy; thanks to the powers that be, Coldplay.

At the New Jersey date of their Head Full of Dreams tour, frontman Chris Martin decided to take a request from a very special fan: his own son Moses Martin, who was "just wondering if you could play a song from both of our favourite movie Back to the Future."

Martin then proceeded to indulge the request, launching into the classic played at the Under the Sea dance in the film, "Earth Angel"; before being joined onstage by Marty McFly himself, Michael J. Fox, for a guitar solo.

Fox and the band then segued into Chuck Berry's iconic "Johnny B. Goode", the track McFly plays to the utterly perplexed audience at his parents' high school dance. Though everyone was certainly ready for it this time round; the crowd going wild as Martin thanked Fox for the performance.

"That's our dream come true. Thank you, Michael," he said to the actor. "What a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful man."

Coldplay will continue touring until mid-December; with their next performance scheduled for 20 July in Indianapolis, Indiana.
