While most fans are patiently waiting for the release of Thor: Ragnarok later this month, some were treated to an early preview from the premiere.

Cate Blanchett and Chris Hemsworth were both in attendance at the El Capitan theatre in Los Angeles on Tuesday (9 October) evening, but it was Bruce Banner/Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo who provided the evening’s entertainment.

As the cast introduced the anticipated film onstage before its premiere, Ruffalo decided to start a live stream from his phone to bring fans closer to the action, capturing the audience’s reactions in the theatre.

However, this introductory interlude lasted longer than expected, as Ruffalo didn’t actually end the live stream, which continued to record from the actor’s pocket as the film began.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the film audio was clearly audible as the stream continued for 15 minutes - the amount of time it took for Ruffalo to realise his mistake. Approximately 2,500 Marvel fans tuned in before the live stream ended.

The upcoming sequel sees a shift in tone for the Thor series, as Hunt For The Wilderpeople director Taika Waiti takes the reigns on Ragnarok.

Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston return as Thor and Loki respectively. Cate Blanchett joins the franchise as the visually Maleficent-esque antagonist Hela, while the legendary Jeff Goldblum will play the Grandmaster.

Ragnarok sees the Marvel universe extend even further, in the first crossover with Guardians of the Galaxy characters - and a clear influence in its 1980s style already visible in the trailer.

Thor: Ragnarok hits cinemas on 27 October. See what critics have been saying so far.
