Hollywood has been re-booting franchises left, right and centre - Terminator, Jurassic Park, Ghostbusters, Mad Max, National Lampoon’s Vacation, Spider-Man again, Gremlins

Sony are arguably scraping the barrel with their latest resurrection, as they’ve decided to reboot the not hugely successful, not that well-loved 90s sci-fi horror Flatliners.

The original film, release in 1990, centered on four medical students obsessed with near death experiences. They each have their heart stopped and then revived, after which they continue to have walking nightmares that intensify as they go further and further into the realm of the horrific to find a cure. Julia Roberts, Kiefer Sutherland and Kevin Bacon all starred in the original.

Ellen Page is in talks to star in the film and is likely to take on Roberts' character.

Also on board are Niels Arden Oplev, who directed Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and Michael Douglas producing (he also did the original).

Are you excited for a Flatliners reboot? Or do you think Hollywood needs to start creating some original stories again?
