Brad Pitt talks about 'threatening to kill' Harvey Weinstein over alleged Gwyneth Paltrow assault

Paltrow claims her then-boyfriend confronted the disgraced producer in 1995

Brad Pitt has spoken out about confronting Harvey Weinstein for allegedly sexually harassing Gwyneth Paltrow when she was 22.

The actor said he “wanted to make sure nothing was going to happen further” after Paltrow alleged that the disgraced producer had inappropriately placed his hands on her during a “work meeting” in a Los Angeles hotel.

The incident is said to have happened after Paltrow was hired to play the lead role in Jane Austen adaptation, Emma, in 1994.

Paltrow later said on The Howard Stern Show that Pitt, her then-boyfriend, threatened Weinstein at the opening of a Broadway production of Hamlet starring Ralph Fiennes in 1995.

According to the Avengers star, he told Weinstein: “If you ever make her feel uncomfortable again, I’ll kill you.”

Pitt, who appears in new film Ad Astra, elaborated upon the encounter in a new interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour,

“At that moment, I was just a boy from the Ozarks on the playground and that’s how we confronted things,” he said.

“I think the interesting thing is that we, Hollywood specifically, but the workplace – men and women’s dynamics – is being re-calibrated in a very good way that is long overdue. And I do think that’s an important story to tell.”
