'You're obscene.' 'Everyone's obscene. That's the whole point.'

The official trailer for A Bigger Splash (no relation to the Hockney painting/70s film) has debuted, the new film from I Am Love director Luca Guadagnino.

Fresh from Venice Film Festival and pitched somewhere between romantic drama and erotic thriller, it stars Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes, Dakota Johnson and Matthias Schoenaerts and is billed as a ‘dazzling, sensuous portrait of desire, jealousy and rock ‘n’ roll under the Mediterranean sun’.

The synopsis is as follows:

‘When a high-profile couple – a rock star and a filmmaker decide to vacation on a remote Italian island, their rest is disrupted by the sudden visit of an old friend and his sexy, yet mysterious daughter. Suddenly, what was supposed to be an ideal getaway turns into a whirlwind of jealousy, passion and danger for everyone in the group.’

The trailer teases this frenetic climax, with the quartet’s relationships growing more tense, bitter and sexually-charged until glimpses of police tape are ominously seen.

A Bigger Splash opens in UK cinemas on 12 February.
