After teasing their adoring southern public with irregular trips to the capital, Renaissance finally decided to make a commitment to London by taking up a weekly residency. Their night was recently voted the "Best Club Night" at the London Club Awards 1999, but this is one promotion that requires minimal hard sell. The Cross provides an excellent venue, and the crowd has a reputation for glamour and lending their energies to keeping the dancefloor fluid.
Graeme Park, Ian Ossia, Danny Hussain and the excellent Lee Burridge take charge on the Technics tonight, playing deep, melodic house with uplifting vibes. It will be interesting to see how the London clientele takes to a weekly event, given that part of Renaissance's attraction derived from the occasional nature of their gigs.
King's Goods Yard Way, York Way, King's Cross London N1 (0171-837 0828), Sat 10pm-6am, pounds 15
