Solange Knowles to create and compose dance show for Tate Modern reopening

The singer teased a mysterious collaboration with the Tate Modern, set to open a brand new gallery space for diverse and international works

Solange Knowles is set to lend a hand in the grand reopening of the Tate Modern.

The artist, best known for the catchy track "Losing You", announced the project on her Instagram page; posting two short preview clips of the work, one seeing a group of women emerging from a mesh cage, and the other glimpsing the work through a camera's preview monitor.

"Creating and Composing something special for the @Tate Museum.... and these beautiful babes who made my whole entire life," Knowles captioned one of the videos; with another citing the involvement of filmmaker Alan Del Rio Oritz and photographer Carlota Guerrero, the latter herself posting an image of Knowles in anticipation.

Presumably, the work will form part of the opening of the museum's new building on 17 June; which will increase the gallery floor space by 60%, allowing greater diversity in form - including live art, film, and installations - as well as a stronger international flavour.

Celebrations will take place over three days; including a special late-night event curated by young people from Tate Collective London, a choral work with over 500 singers from community choirs across London, and special art talks.
