Give to GOSH: Thank you all for making a difference
You are marvellous because you have great taste in newspapers, but also because of your unparalleled kindness
There has never been any doubt in my mind that readers of The Independent on Sunday are utterly marvellous. You are marvellous because you have great taste in newspapers, but also because of your unparalleled kindness.
Over the past few weeks you have given so generously to our charity appeal that we have hit a staggering sum. Many of you were sporting enough to sponsor my month without sugar, meaning I smashed my target of £1,000 to raise £2,350.
I was thrilled to represent the Independent titles at the GOSH birthday party on 9 February, and have a slice of the fabulously sugar-laden cake! But I was even more energised by watching the children currently being treated at GOSH disco dancing, decorating biscuits, designing their own newpaper front pages and generally causing merry mayhem.
The first person I saw when I arrived was Emma McCartney, the mother of young James, about whom we wrote at the start of the appeal. It was wonderful to catch up. James is back at home, but still going into the hospital as an out-patient. Emma writes eloquently above about her gratitude to the hospital, and to you for giving so generously.
From all of us at The IoS, thank you too. You’re the best.
