Adele, the world’s biggest-selling singer, has become the latest high-profile backer of The Independent’s Give to GOSH appeal by donating tickets to her sold-out UK tour shows.

The multi-award winner, who was this week named as the world’s best-selling music artist of 2015, has donated eight pairs of tickets, which will be used in a prize draw in aid of The Independent’s record-breaking appeal for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

Adele, who has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, has donated one pair of tickets for each of her eight sold-out London performances, to give readers an amazing chance to see her perform live in concert.

Adele’s latest album is the fastest-selling record in British history, and her new nine-month tour – her first in four years – has become the most hotly anticipated live show of the year, with tickets to the worldwide tour selling out in minutes.

Her endorsement of Give to GOSH comes after a string of celebrities, including Paul McCartney, Johnny Depp, Daniel Craig and David Beckham, backed the seasonal appeal, which has now raised more than £3m to support the vital work carried out at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The draw can be entered for just £10, and the money raised will boost the total raised by the Give to GOSH appeal. Readers can buy as many tickets for the draw as they wish to increase their chances of winning.

The tour will take in performances in Britain, Europe and North America, including eight shows at the London 02 Arena, where the winners of the prize tickets will see Adele perform.

Tim Johnson, chief executive of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, said: “It is so wonderful that Adele has backed our appeal in such a generous way. These tickets are like gold dust at the moment and it’s fantastic that we are able to offer readers a chance to win them in a way that will also support the Give to GOSH appeal.”

Now in its final week, The Independent’s seasonal appeal has raised more than any other appeal in the paper’s nearly 30-year history, and will help fund the priority needs of the Louis Dundas Centre, GOSH’s world-leading unit dedicated to children’s palliative care, as well as support the creation of a new 14-bed specialist heart unit.

This week it was also confirmed that the appeal has been so successful that £1m of the money raised will be spent on researching cures and treatments for rare diseases found in children. Money raised will also cover the costs of 10 members of the hospital’s much-loved play team and fund 1,000 nights in family accommodation, so parents can remain close to their children when they need them most.

Mr Johnson added: “Adele is a record-breaking artist and this has been a record-breaking charity appeal, so this feels like a fitting way to see out the final week of this incredible appeal. Thank you to everybody who has donated money, shared their stories and taken the time to write us messages of support.

“To know there are so many people out there willing to go above and beyond to help our special hospital is simply wonderful. The appeal and your generosity really will have a lasting impact.”

The Adele prize draw is being run in partnership with Givergy Access, the online fundraising platform which has hosted The Independent’s Give to GOSH auctions, as well as an earlier prize draw in aid of the appeal.
