Rugby World Cup 2019 in numbers

After one super typhoon, the threat of legal action and plenty of heated words, the Group A finale between Japan and Scotland is set to go ahead.

The winner will progress to the knockout stages, where they’ll face either New Zealand or South Africa in the quarter-finals.

Hosts Japan head into the fixture with a flawless record, having won all three of their group matches at the Rugby World Cup.

Scotland, meanwhile, were notably thumped by Ireland in their opening match but after back-to-back bonus-point wins, Gregor Townsend’s men now have qualification in their sights.

Four years ago in England, Japan were beaten to a spot in the last eight by Scotland – despite winning three matches of their group. The Brave Blossoms will be desperate reap revenge today and avoid a repeat of history as they attempt to secure a quarter-final berth for the first time.
