Saul Alvarez and Amir Khan go head-to-head

Saul Alvarez knocked out Amir Khan with a brutal right hook in the sixth-round to retain his WBC middleweight title at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Khan stepped up two weight divisions to face the fearsome Mexican, and despite an impressive start, in which the Brit could have claimed to have won the first four rounds, Alvarez soon found his range, and clinically ended the fight in the sixth with the devastating right.

  • The ring walk was at 4.15am
  • Khan now has a record of 31 wins with 4 defeats in 35 bouts
  • Alvarez has lost only once in 49 fights – to Floyd Mayweather
  • Khan had odds as long as 4-1 to win before the bout

At Friday's weigh-in, both men scaled 155lb, right on the catch-weight limit.

“The last time I was an underdog was in Athens at the Olympics,” said Khan. “The authorities did not want me to go, they said I had no chance and I fought without fear – I always fight without fear. This fight will be the same, no fear.”
