Transfer deadline day summer 2019: The deals done so far

Bruno Fernandes issued a heartfelt apology after captaining his Sporting side in a dismal 5-0 defeat to rivals Benfica in the Portuguese Super Cup Final in what could be his final game for the club.

Fernandes has been persistently linked to Manchester United and Tottenham throughout the summer with his agent meeting with representatives of both clubs as the midfielder looks to finalise a move to England.

United cooled their interest in the 24-year-old when talks with Juventus’ Paulo Dybala materialised, however, after those negotiations collapsed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side may reignite their pursuit.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have been in negotiations with Sporting with Mauricio Pochettino putting pressure on Daniel Levy to make another statement signing.

After the match, an emotional Fernandes took to Instagram and wrote: “This is not a time for many words, it is not a time to raise our heads.

“It is a time to bow our heads and think about the mistakes we have made and that we should never make them again.

“It is the moment to think about what made us win, cups we won last year and that the unity and fellowship we had led us to these achievements!”

Fernandes reportedly met with Sporting’s hierarchy with his agent on Friday, where he told the club he’d like to leave if their asking price is met before the English transfer window closes at 5pm on Thursday.
