Liverpool could be offered the chance to sign Marco Asensio this summer - but there's a catch.

Real Madrid have reportedly accelerated their pursuit of forward Sadio Mane with Asensio an apparent carrot available in any swap deal.

The Express claim that Jurgen Klopp has long been an admirer of Asensio and Madrid believe including the 23-year-old can tempt the Reds to depart with the Senegalese international.

Asensio has fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu somewhat with Eden Hazard's £150m arrival earlier this summer now another obstacle to first team football.

It remains to be seen whether the Reds are willing to part with Mane for any price, however.

Could Philippe Coutinho be on his way back to Anfield?

French publication Le10Sport claims that Liverpool are plotting a move to bring their former player back to the club.

The Brazilian has endured a turbulent time since joining Barcelona 18 months ago with the player himself admitting his future is uncertain.

But despite suggestions that Liverpool were content with their lot there has been a change of heart over Coutinho, it is claimed, with a surprise move still possible.

Elsewhere the Reds have pulled out of the race to sign Bruno Fernandes with the player’s agent, Miguel Pinho, having held meetings with Manchester United and Tottenham.

Fernandes was heavily linked with Liverpool earlier in the summer but he looks destined to end up somewhere else in the Premier League.

Max Kruse has joined Fenerbahce on a free transfer with it claimed he rejected Liverpool to do so.

The 31-year-old left Werder Bremen at the end of last month with the Reds linked with a move.

But reports in Germany claim that despite an offer from them to chose instead to move to Turkey.

Meanwhile, former target Nabil Fekir has apparently been offered to Arsenal.

The Reds came close to signing the French international from Lyon last summer only to see a move collapse at the 11th hour.

Now, 12 months on, Lyon are ready to sell with the Mirror reporting the Gunners can sign him for just £30m.

Rafael Camacho has joined Sporting Lisbon in a permanent deal for £5m with the deal including a buy-back clause and a sell-on percentage.

Liverpool fended off late competition from Bayern Munich to make their first signing of the window in Dutch starlet Sepp van den Berg for £1.3m.

The 17-year-old has signed a long-term deal at Anfield, with Ajax also thought to have made a late run at the talented defender.

Speaking on his move from PEC Zwolle, van den Berg said: “It’s just an amazing feeling. It is, for me, the biggest club in the world and it’s a dream come true.”

Elsewhere, Nicolas Pepe is reportedly still attracting attention, with the Daily Record’s Duncan Castles claiming that there is still “hope” for a deal to bring him to Liverpool. It had been reported that Inter Milan had lodged a £72m bid for the winger but Castles has quashed those rumours.

Ryan Kent’s hopes of rejoining Rangers on loan next season have been dealt a blow, with Liverpool reportedly only interested in sanctioning a permanent deal for the 22-year-old.
