All the latest transfer news, rumours and gossip from Anfield
Reports in France claim Liverpool are plotting a last-ditch “hijacking” of Nicolas Pepe‘s move to Arsenal.
The winger is expected to complete a £72m move to the Gunners within 48 hours, however, Foot Mercato claim Liverpool have entered the running and that the Reds have now lodged a bid for the player which is being considered by Lille.
However, it’s long been understood that the Reds are not interested in parting with significant finances this summer, while Pepe’s agent has confirmed Arsenal and Napoli are the only two clubs in the running.
The Reds are supposedly interested in 23-year-old Bordeaux forward Francois Kamano, though, who scored 13 goals last season and is valued in the region of £13m.
CalcioMercato report that the versatile forward, who can play on either flank, could be considered as cover with Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino all yet to return from international duty.
Liverpool's most expensive signings
Show all 10Borussia Dortmund have emerged as frontrunners for the signature of Harry Wilson, who has attracted interest from a number of Premier League, Championship and European clubs after an impressive spell at Derby last season.
The 22-year-old winger is valued at £25m by the club and is keen to play more first-team football and the German side appear to have now leapfrogged Newcastle and Aston Villa in the pursuit.
Jurgen Klopp admitted that teenage striker Rhian Brewster has been “knocked down” by the intensity of pre-season, but is still confident the young striker can make an impact in the first-team.
“It started really well then pre-season knocked him down, you really feel your legs, but we are super positive about him. No pressure,” Klopp said.
“With the talent and attitude he has, it will be fine, but when I don’t know. In a lot of pre-season moments he looked really good. The future is bright.”
Liverpool’s newest bright talent, Harvey Elliott, could leave the club on loan this summer after the 16-year-old starlet completed his move to Anfield from Fulham.
The teenager, who became the youngest Premier League debutant in history last season, joined up with Liverpool’s first-team squad for their friendly with Napoli yesterday.
“He wanted to be part of Liverpool because of his talent.” he said. “Now that he is here, let’s work with him. He needs game time – we have to see where he will get that.”
Hakim Ziyech, who was tracked by both Liverpool and Arsenal at the start of the window, is set to remain at Ajax for another season after only Sevilla made a move for the Moroccan.
Ziyech said he didn’t believe a move to the Spanish side was a step up from Ajax and will now wait until next summer in hope one of Europe’s top clubs will make a play for him.
