West Ham have completed the signing of Lucas Pérez from Arsenal on a permanent deal.

The 29-year-old striker joins on a three-year deal for a cut-price £4m, having signed for Arsenal from Deportivo La Coruña for £17.1m just two seasons ago.

Pérez, who spent last season on loan at his former club having failed to win a first-team place at The Emirates, will now compete with the likes of Marko Arnautović, Javier Hernández and Andy Carroll for a starting berth at his new club.

Pérez had been informed that he was not part of Unai Emery’s plans for the new season after Arsenal’s pre-season friendly draw with Atlético Madrid.

Sporting Lisbon immediately registered an interest in the player, while Lazio have previously scouted him, but Pérez was initially unwilling to move away from Arsenal.

A move to West Ham however represented an acceptable compromise, with Pérez keen to remain in London.

Arsenal have also made Danny Welbeck and Joel Campbell surplus to requirements, while West Ham are still exploring a move for Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater.
