Jurgen Klopp threatens to quit Carabao Cup over fixture congestion

Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the table with a 2-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.

Jurgen Klopp's men continued their winning streak after rivals Manchester City dropped points in a 2-2 draw with Newcastle United.

The European champions are now 11 points clear heading into the festive period.

Virgil van Dijk hit a brace as the hosts cruised into an early two-goal lead after 24 minutes.

A late red card for Alisson saw the Reds end the match on a nervous note, with Lewis Dunk finding the back of the net moments later on 79 minutes, but Liverpool made sure to hang on for the win.
