Norwich maintained their position at the top of the Sky Bet Championship after coming from behind to beat Rotherham 3-1 at Carrow Road.

With Leeds beating Sheffield United in the early kick-off and the Millers opening the scoring through Richie Towell in the 11th minute, the Canaries appeared to be relinquishing their position at the summit.

But Todd Cantwell’s effort just after half-time triggered a turnaround as Maximillian Aarons and Teemu Pukki also found the net, the latter for the 11th time this term.

Leeds remain a point behind after Pablo Hernandez took advantage of an error from goalkeeper Dean Henderson in the 82nd minute to secure a 1-0 win at Bramall Lane.

Middlesbrough failed to turn the heat up on the top two in the evening kick-off, losing 3-0 at home to in-form Aston Villa.

Villa moved to within three points of the top six as James Chester, Tammy Abraham – his seventh in four games – and Glenn Whelan netted.

Paul Lambert is still waiting for his first win as Ipswich boss after Lewis Grabban scored twice in Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 victory at the City Ground.

Harry Wilson netted two, making it four goals in three games, to lift play-off chasing Derby to a 2-1 triumph over Swansea, who set up a nervy finish when Fikayo Tomori scored a 87th-minute own goal.

Birmingham are four points off the top six following a 3-0 win over Preston at St Andrew’s.

Declan Rudd made a major error in the North End goal, letting Maikel Kieftenbeld’s long ball squirm under his foot in the 46th minute, before Jacques Maghoma and Che Adams made the game safe.

A 3-2 win at QPR moved Hull two points above the relegation zone.
