Russia mocks US over long-awaited Mueller report: 'Zero, a void, lies and fibs'

Russian state media responded to the Mueller report with disdain (Russia 24)

The Kremlin and its media allies enjoyed a second chance to celebrate the Mueller report’s main conclusions on the absence of collusion.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday that there is “no evidence substantiated by any facts” that Russia interfered in the election, and said stressed that Moscow rejects the accusations.

Peskov pointed out that President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly denied the claims of interference “because there was none.”

In the upper chamber of the Russian Parliament, the chairman of the information committee, Alexei Pushkov, on Friday mocked the Mueller probe for spending millions of dollars of taxpayers’ money without ever proving there was any collusion between Trump and the Kremlin, instead charging Trump’s former campaign chief with illegal lobbying on behalf of Ukraine.

On the prime-time evening talk show Time will Tell, journalist Artyom Shenin declared that “another bubble” had been burst.

“In the United States’ anti-Russian imperial war, they promised us that Mueller would show us all, would prove everything,” he said. “They said they would show how Trump was colluding with us.”

Mr Shenin then repeated US attorney general William Barr’s summary that no American citizen had colluded with Russia, to applause in the audience:

“So there was zero, a void, lies and fibs,” he said.

News bulletins meanwhile led on the cost. “Of course Russia was to blame for everything, but [they decided] Trump nor any other American was involved. And that conclusion cost them $25m”

State-owned Rossiya television channel said in its report on the Vesti. Economy program late on Thursday that the report is not credible because it has failed to release the content of hacked emails or “specific files.”

“The Mueller probe was an attempt to threaten the current government and influence U.S. foreign policy without offering any specific evidence,” it said.
