Days after emotional testimony on Capitol Hill, former ambassador Marie Yovanovitch received a standing ovation while visiting a jazz club in Washington.

Ms Yovanovitch had also been cheered immediately after her testimony before the House Intelligence Committee, where she described the conspiracy that led to her removal from Ukraine.

During that testimony, Ms Yovanovitch was also confronted with real-time attacks by Donald Trump, who tweeted that “everywhere Marie Yovanovitch went turned bad”.

She responded to that attack saying it was “very intimidating”.

Footage taken on Saturday shows her attending a jazz show at the club Blues Alley, in Georgetown.

When she took her seat to watch Cuban-American trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, a fellow audience member saw her — and started a round of applause.

“Spontaneous ovation tonight at a DC jazz club for #MarieYovanovitch. Grateful for your courage and integrity, ambassador,” wrote Twitter user Lisa Dickey, alongside a clip of the moment.

In that video, fellow audience members can be heard telling her that “we are so grateful”, “thank you”, and “I love you so much”.

The applause came just two days after Ms Yovanovitch received applause in the hearing room following her impeachment testimony, amounting to a rare moment of outright support in a room that is normally known for more stuffy comportment.
