'Come on man' Joe Biden challenges Donald Trump to 'push-up contest'

Joe Biden has challenged Donald Trump to a push-ups contest.

The former vice president said he would put Mr Trump on the spot if he questioned his physical or mental health in a 2020 election debate.

The 76-year-old told MSNBC’s Morning Joe programme: “I’d say, ‘C’mon Donald, c’mon man. How many push-ups do you want to do here, pal?’”

“I mean, jokingly … C’mon, run with me, man.”

Mr Biden was being questioned on how he would respond to Mr Trump’s mud-slinging campaign style.

In a further macho boast, he added that he often ran along the routes of parades.

Previously Mr Biden has said that were he and Mr Trump at school he would “take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him” for the way the now-73-year-old talks about women.

“I’m a pretty damn good athlete,” he said at the time.
