A teenage girl reportedly punched an alleged sex attacker in the testicles so she could escape.

The 16-year-old had attended a party at a friend's house when she allegedly woke up with Andres Rivera on top of her, police in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, said.

The teen reacted "like her brothers showed her how to do", according to okcfox.com, striking the 20-year-old in the genitals.

Rivera has now been arrested on suspicion of rape by instrumentation.

The girl's parents reportedly told detectives she had asked to stay at her friend's house before, at some point during the night, a number of men arrived for a party.

The girl and her friend went to a separate room and slept.

In the morning the victim's friend woke her and said she was leaving to go shopping and that there was no one in the house.

But just a few minutes later the 16-year-old awoke again to find Rivera on top of her with his trousers around his ankles.

After she punched him, he rolled away and she escaped the house, according to police reports.
