Tying a tie properly - with the knot and length just so - is a challenge for most.

But one elderly gentleman was hand to give a quick and vital lesson when a younger man needed his tie knotted at the Lindbergh Centre subway station in Atlanta.

The smartly dressed younger man was wearing a shirt and suit trousers, but was apparently struggling with the tie. At that point, the elderly fellow traveller, wearing a fleece and flat cap, offered to help.

The image, posted by Redd Desmond Thomas, from Atlanta, has done the rounds on Facebook

“The older gentleman moved without hesitation and game him a step-by-step tutorial; then afterward the older gentleman watched the young gentleman repeat the steps and show him that he had it,” he wrote. “I love this.”
