Chile: Footage shows moment 8.3 earthquake strikes Santiago

Tsunami warnings have been issued across the Pacific after a magnitude 8.3 earthquake struck off the coast of Chile, killing at least five people.

The powerful quake shook buildings as far south as Chile's capital, Santiago, around 175 miles (280km) away from the epicentre.

The quake has also been captured on CCTV.

One million people have been evacuated nationwide. Reports indicate that at least 20 people have been injured.

The quake and four aftershocks resulted in waves of up to 4.3m (13ft) hitting coastal areas including Coquimbo and Tongoy which were heavily flooded.

Chilean President, Michelle Bachelet, has said she will visit both towns on Thursday.
