Boris Johnson: best way to honour memory of Jo Cox is to 'get Brexit done'

The Daily Mirror‘s front page says the prime minister is a “Man with no shame”, while the paper’s editorial says his Commons speech on Wednesday was “one of the most disgraceful ever delivered by a prime minister”.

One Nation Tories in parliament are feeling “a real sense of doom” over Boris Johnson ’s tactics, The Guardian writes, while The Sun says its readers have “overwhelmingly” backed the PM following the Supreme Court‘s decision that his prorogation of parliament was unlawful.

The Daily Mail‘s Simon Walters examines the Survation poll and notes that Mr Johnson’s approval rating has fallen, but his main threat is not the Liberal Democrats’ Jo Swinson or Labour’s Jeremy Corbyn.

Mr Walters says that honour belongs to the Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage.

Columnist Vernon Bogdanor writes in The Daily Telegraph that “Labour is virtue-signalling over a highly complex legal matter while facing its own accusations of lawbreaking”.

The Times notes that the PM “does not have many options” left in his pursuit of an exit from the EU.

If he does request an extension from Brussels, the paper’s editorial says, he will have to resign and leave “someone else” to form government.

“That way further chaos lies,” it adds.
